Study in Australia: A Complete Step-By-Step Guide to Applying for a Student Visa 2023

Are you a prospective student who wants to study in Australia but is unsure where to begin?  To alleviate your concerns, we have created a comprehensive guide to ensure you understand the entire process before applying to study in Australia.
The First Step….
Selecting the right educational consultancy should be the first step in your study abroad journey. With the frequent introduction of new immigration regulations and amendments to existing ones, it is essential that you seek the advice of a knowledgeable educational consultant to help you navigate the entire process. An experienced educational consultant will not only answer all your queries but will also assess your academic and financial documents to give you further advice.  Make sure an education consultancy meets the following requirements before choosing them:
  • Registered with appropriate regulating bodies
  • Team of experienced consultants (Multiple consultants specializing in a specific country)
  • History of successful applicants
  • Language preparation guidance
  • Extensive knowledge of universities/colleges and courses
  • Application support
  • Expert documentation officers
  • Support for visa interview
  • Support for tickets, traveling, and accommodation
The next step in your study abroad journey is to prepare for an English proficiency test, such as IELTS/TOEFL/PTE.
Based on your course requirements, your educational consultant will advise you on the best proficiency test for you. Most experienced consultants will also offer IELTS/PTE preparation classes in-house with their own tutors.  Looking for a quality language preparation class? With locations throughout Australia and Nepal, Kangaroo Education & Visa Services provides some of the top IELTS/PTE preparation classes.  They also assist students in scheduling tests based on their preparation and readiness.
After receiving your English language proficiency results, the subsequent step is to begin applying to colleges/universities in the subjects you wish to study.
Proper preparation before studying in Australia should be done regarding the selection of education consultants, courses, institutions and so on. It is critical that students select the appropriate course, institution, and city to further their education. If you are unsure about which career path to take or which college/university to attend, your education consultant will guide you through the entire process.  They have an extensive list of institutes they have partnered with and are also aware of the wide array of courses they offer.  Once you’ve decided on a course, the next step is to apply to institutes based on your subject preference as well as your preferred city. The quality of institutes, their tuition fees, and their location should all be considered when selecting an institute. Some of the most popular cities in Australia for international students are Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Tasmania, etc.  Apply to at least three institutes to ensure you receive multiple offers and can choose the best one to pursue your studies.  You will require some important documents for your application such as:
  • Copy of your Passport
  • Results of your English proficiency test (IELTS/PTE)
  • Academic Documents to date
  • Work experience/proof of gap (where necessary)
  • Statement of Purpose
  • GTE
Before issuing offer letters, some universities conduct interviews. Please ensure that your education consultation has prepared you for this interview.
After you have completed all the preceding steps, the next phase is to wait for and accept a place offered by the institutes to which you have applied.
There are three possible outcomes based on your application. A conditional offer letter (which will be changed to an unconditional letter if you meet the admissions committee’s conditions), an unconditional offer letter, or a rejection letter.
Following acceptance of an unconditional offer of a place, the next step is financial preparation to receive a CoE.
Your financial documents should demonstrate your or your family’s ability to pay tuition and cover living expenses while studying in Australia. The college sends a CoE to the student after the payment is approved and received by the university/college. COE stands for Confirmation of Enrollment. A CoE includes your enrolment confirmation, tuition fees, course duration information, and the program’s start and end dates.
Once a student receives their CoE, one of the most crucial stages of an international student’s journey to study abroad begins, i.e., the documentation process for visa lodgment.
The documents required to apply for a student visa in Australia can be namely divided into four different categories.
